Delaware Farmer Finds Lottery Fortune Growing in Maryland

Wins $50,000 scratching $1,000,000 Blowout game
His visits to family members living in Maryland frequently brings a Delaware man across the border, he told Maryland Lottery officials this week. A trip back to his hometown to see relatives makes for a nice change for the Greenwood farmer, who devotes his days to the hard work of raising chickens. Winning a $50,000 scratch-off prize from the Maryland Lottery made his most recent homecoming even better.
“I play in Delaware and have had some wins, but nothing like this,” said the 30-year-old. The loyal player reports that he always makes time to buy a few instant tickets on his Maryland excursions. Last week’s stop at Happy Market in Cambridge found him, for reasons he can’t explain, stepping away from his regular Lottery play pattern.
“I always buy $5 tickets, maybe a $10 one once in a while. I don’t know why, but it just felt like time to try a $20 game. $1,000,000 Blowout was the first one I saw.”
Scratching his “out of the blue” choice, the lucky man at first thought he won $1,000. Looking again, the player decided his prize was $10,000.
“I must have looked at it five times before I realized that every single box on the ticket was a winner. That’s not supposed to happen!” Asking the store cashier to check his prize, the player could read the shock on her face. “It’s not every day you see a $50,000 scratch ticket, for her or for me.”
