$100,000-Winning Powerball Ticket Sold in Gaithersburg

Player finds big win in Saturday’s drawing
Who was the luckiest Powerball player in Maryland this weekend? The person who won $100,000 with a ticket purchased in Gaithersburg! No one won the jackpot but Maryland had 10,340 winners of prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000.
The big winner bought the lucky ticket at Flower Hill Beer & Wine located at 18253 Flower Hill Way in Gaithersburg. The winning numbers were 18, 31, 36, 43 and 47; the Powerball was 20 and the Power Play multiplier was 2. Our winner added Power Play to the purchase, which doubled the third-tier prize from $50,000 to $100,000. This was the 30th third-tier Powerball win in Maryland during 2020.
Lottery officials encourage all winners to sign the backs of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location. Winners typically get 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim prizes. However, the Lottery has temporarily extended claiming deadlines due to Maryland’s COVID-19 state of emergency.
The big winner can claim the $100,000 prize by mail or in person by appointment at the Lottery Customer Resource Center. Get details on how to claim by mail here or schedule an appointment here. Players can redeem winning tickets with a value up to and including $600 at any Maryland Lottery retailer. Prizes up to $5,000 can be claimed at Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) retailers.
The Powerball jackpot rolled to $52 million for the Oct. 7 drawing. The cash option for the drawing is $41.6 million.
